Substance abuse, depression, suicide, and child abuse are rampant in the bush of Alaska. Our team from BHBC in Rockford, Michigan has been going up to Port Alsworth for five summers working at Tanalian Bible Camp where we offer them relief from isolation, fun, healing, and hope as we bring the love and message of Jesus. Last year we added a b-ball camp in another village, Illiamna.The children loved it. The team is planning on working at the camps July17-August10,2009.
Keep the photos coming! I love looking every day to see the photos of the staff and kids - it's so great to see! Looks like a lot of great kids up there and it looks like they are having a good time - I'm so glad that they have such a wonderful staff that can minister to them and meet them right where they're at. We walk with you even though we can't physically walk beside you!!
